Ethiopia is the primary center of origin of the Arabica coffee plant. Coffea Arabica has been growing wild in the forests of the Southwestern Highlands of Kaffa and Buno districts of Ethiopia for thousands of years. As legend has it, coffee was discovered in Ethiopia in the 9th century.
98% of the Ethiopian coffee is produced by peasants with a plantation size of less than a hectare. As a result each of their coffee tree receives high attention and care which leads to an excellent cup profile.
The washed Sidamo is one of the best known coffees of Ethiopia. Sidamo is a province in the south-central part of Ethiopia . In Ethiopia the coffee regions regions are kept apart and marketed under their regional name.
