About the Course
The class caters for those who want to develop their existing skills and complete beginners too. The course covers a whole range of making techniques, including handbuilding, throwing on the wheel, surface decoration and glazing. Please speak to your teacher in the first class if there are specific skills that you would like to focus on during the course.
This class is taught at our studio in Furi, Aroleid Kollektiv
Please note that we have a 28 day no refund policy before the start of the course and missed classes can not be made up in different classes so please make sure that you are able to attend all classes before booking. Thank you.
During the 12 week course, you will be taught both how to hand build and throw on the potter's wheel. More experienced students will be helped to improve their existing skills.
You can expect to make between 6-12 pieces during the course. Please note that you will not be able to bring home all of your finished pieces in the last class due to the many stages involved in the making process. You will be able to come back to pick up your pieces a couple of weeks after the end of your course. In the event that your pieces are not ready to be glazed in the last class, we will arrange for you to come back in another class to glaze your last pieces.
Once a piece has been fired, the clay cannot be recycled and therefore there is a small charge of chf6 per kg of clay to be fired. We recycle all unfired waste clay at the studio and many of Zermatt Keramik pieces are made from this recycled clay. Your teacher will point you to the appropriate buckets to put your unwanted waste clay in. Thank you for helping us look after our environment.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds for courses cancelled by the student with less than 28 days notice before the start of the course (but we will help you try to find someone else to take over your spot, if you have to cancel your class).
